EMDR INTENSIVES: fast and effective healing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR helps us process negative feelings and change the way we think about ourselves and our memories. During treatment we actually “re-wire” the brain so old, painful thoughts are replaced with healthy ones. Because of the powerful healing effect of EMDR therapy, Intensives can produce faster results than weekly sessions using standard talk-therapy techniques. EMDR Intensives can help clients to process information faster and heal quicker.

How are intensives different from regular EMDR sessions, and why should I invest in them?

  • Each intensive is personalized  to the  client’s individual needs and goals

  • There is more focus on deep-seated negative beliefs or events versus the crisis of the week

  • Same results as weekly EMDR but faster reduction of distress and unwanted symptoms

  • There is the time and space to process more instead of opening and then closing the hourly sessions

  • There is time to provide numerous relaxation and self-regulating techniques  and somatic and art-based activities.

  • Several breaks to regroup and refresh  are provided which are not possible in an hour session.

  • Intensives are not covered by Insurance companies which only cover 50-60 minute  sessions per day.

How much time do EMDR intensives take, and what is the cost?

Emdr intensives are scheduled for a half day or full day

  • Half-day consists of 3 hours and the cost is $600.

  • Full-days consist of 6 hours and the cost is $1000.

  • They can happen over 1 day or several days depending on the issue being addressed.

Investing in an EMDR intensive is like cleaning out an old attic in several focused days versus working an hour per week cleaning and sorting the attic, which could take much longer.
